BASIS Chandler opened its doors in 2011 with the goal of delivering a rigorous and world-class education to East Valley families. Cut from the mold of nationally ranked BASIS Tucson and BASIS Scottsdale, the Chandler campus now enters year-three – with its first graduating class.
Divided into a Lower School (Grades 5-7) and an Upper School (Grades 8-12), BASIS Chandler’s outstanding faculty delivers a challenging, proven curriculum. By promoting hard work, dedication, and accountability among students and teachers, BASIS Chandler continues to build an academic atmosphere that helps students achieve their potential.
Highlights of the Lower School curriculum include Latin and Classics in the 5th grade, separate courses in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics beginning in the 6th grade, and the choice of French, Latin, Mandarin, or Spanish, in the 7th grade. The Social Science courses tackle advanced content and all students complete a minimum of Algebra 1 by the end of seventh grade.
The Upper School curriculum provides students the opportunity to excel in Advanced Placement courses as early as the 8th grade. Our students take at least eight AP courses and six AP® exams by the end of their junior year. The senior year is a truly unique experience affording students the opportunity to pursue independent research in Capstone Courses that develop into the Senior Research Program, which BASIS Chandler will offer for the first time in 2014-2015.
BASIS Chandler also takes pride in the number of students participating in after school activities. Through sports such as varsity basketball and volleyball as well as extracurricular activies like National Honors and Junior Honors Societies, Aerospace Club, Fencing, Drama, and The American Red Cross, BASIS Chandler students devote themselves in a variety of ways outside the classroom.
We invite you to contact us to learn how your child can reach new levels of academic success at BASIS Chandler. For more details, visit the curriculum tab.
MESSAGE FROM THE HEAD OF SCHOOL:
Welcome to BASIS Chandler!
It is my distinct honor and pleasure to be moving into my second year as Head of School at BASIS Chandler. BASIS Chandler has been open since 2011 and during the past two years, our students have excelled beyond our wildest expectations.
Like all BASIS schools, BASIS Chandler offers a rigorous, world-class curriculum that prepares students to attend top rated universities throughout the United States and the world. Our dedicated and brilliant teaching faculty is made up of highly qualified subject area specialists and includes former university professors, published authors, and even a former Top Gun naval aviator. All of our teachers love their subjects and take great pride in seeing the outstanding results that their students consistently produce. This dedication to excellence is what drives our teachers to go the extra mile to ensure that all students succeed. Whether it is staying after school to help students individually, or offering special enrichment classes, our teachers will not be satisfied until every student has mastered the material being taught.
This year, 30 seniors will graduate from BASIS Chandler in our first graduating class. Many top-ranked colleges and universities from around the United States are already actively recruiting our students to attend their universities. Approximately one third of the class of 2014 has qualified for National Merit Scholarship recognition, and several other students have received recognition for their outstanding academic abilities. However, at BASIS Chandler we also care about other aspects of a student’s development. We offer a large number of clubs and other extra-curricular activities in which students can learn important social interaction skills and develop leadership qualities. We care about the whole student.
Here at BASIS Chandler, we take great pride in the amazing diversity of our student body. This diversity allows students to interact and become friends with people from different ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds. The lessons our students learn through these new friendships is something that could never be taught in any classroom, but happens naturally here at BASIS Chandler. When our students leave BASIS Chandler, they can rightly call themselves Global Citizens.
2013-2014 promises to be another exciting year at BASIS Chandler. We encourage you to visit us to see for yourself how BASIS Chandler can benefit your son or daughter.
